I spent a week in the northern Netherlands, travelling around the province of Drenthe for the most part. I spent much of my time going to different villages in this rural area. This was a canal tour, the Netherlands has many waterways, 6,237 km of rivers and canals are navigable for ships of 50 tons. Some 3,740 km of this consists of canals.
