As I flew across the USA from Los Angeles to Washington (via Dallas), one great impression was "how water-rich this country is". Everywhere I looked there were rivers, lakes and other watercourses - Australia has so little water by comparison.
The main part of my journey in the USA was to visit a long-time friend in Bethesda. I stayed there, close to Glen Echo National Park, for 4 weeks and travelled around quite a bit. I also drove my friend's wheelchair van and have to say I found being on the opposite side of the road and feeling like I was the only one observing the speed limit, was quite an experience!
The biggest impression I took away was just how green everything was, especially compared to the Australian bush. I was completely fascinated by the forests.
